Next Tip    Page Formatting Bug In Access 2000

By Owen Jenkins

I've found an Access 2000 bug. I haven't used 2000 much so maybe this is old news. If you copy a file, parts of the report formatting reverts to default values. This happens with page margins etc and drove me mad for a couple of hours. It's to do with the Name Autocorrect functions.

If you format a report with specific margins and portrait/landscape etc, then modify the db, the page formatting reverts to the default. I found a bit of detail about it in the MS KB article Q240826. Click on the following link to view it.

http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q240/8/26.ASP

The format reverts to the default if the table design the report is based upon is modified. There are two other scenarios - a report with a subreport and a modified query name.

The fix includes.

Set the Name Autocorrect off, or install SR1. In any case, any user with A2000 without SR1 should have Name Autocorrect set to off. Perhaps the update should do this automatically.
